Project Details

Featured Project: Aronimink Elementary School Renovation

The Aronimink Elementary School renovation and expansion project brings modernized facilities, enhanced security, and increased student capacity to this beloved community school. Designed by KCBA Architects, the project includes a 34,000 sq. ft., three-story addition housing new classrooms, a gym/auditorium with a stage, an art suite, and multiple small group instruction areas. The new layout also introduces kindergarten into the school, ensuring a more comprehensive learning environment. Extensive site improvements address stormwater management and improve traffic flow with designated loops for buses and cars.

Blending Tradition with Modern Design
A key goal of this renovation was to seamlessly integrate the new addition with the school’s historic architecture and surrounding residential neighborhood. The exterior design achieves this balance through the use of Chesapeake Roughly Rectangular Natural Facing Stone Veneer, supplied by Diener Brick and expertly installed by Dooley & Kretschman Inc. This premium natural stone enhances the structure’s visual appeal, complementing the existing stone facade while adding depth and durability.

Why Chesapeake Roughly Rectangular?
Chosen for its rich textures and timeless character, Chesapeake Roughly Rectangular stone veneer brings a sense of warmth and authenticity to the school’s exterior. The natural variations in color and shape create a dynamic facade that harmonizes with both traditional and contemporary architectural elements. Durable and low-maintenance, this natural stone ensures the building’s longevity while providing a striking aesthetic.

The success of this project was made possible through the collaboration of KCBA Architects, who designed the renovation to honor the school’s historical charm while incorporating modern functionality. Diener Brick supplied the high-quality stone veneer, ensuring a perfect match for the project’s aesthetic goals. Dooley & Kretschman Inc. executed the expert installation, bringing precision and craftsmanship to the stonework that defines the school’s revitalized exterior. Together, this project team delivered a space that seamlessly blends tradition and innovation, ensuring a lasting impact for the Aronimink Elementary School community.
